COVID-19: Situation continues to improve in North Kashmir, positivity graph declines further | KNO

Srinagar, Jun 28 (KNO): In much relief to the people of north Kashmir, the three border districts in last week have reported only a total of 400 COVID-19 positive cases while 886 patients recovered from the virus with 6 deaths. The three border districts including Baramulla, Bandipora, and Kupwara in the northern belt of Kashmir witnessed a huge spike in cases in the last two months and Baramulla district remained most affected due to the virus while Bandipora registered the lowest number of cases and deaths compared to Kupwara remained moderate. According to the figures available with the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) the three border districts in north Kashmir registered a total of 400 COVID-19 positive cases of which 145 were reported in Baramulla followed by 99 in Bandipora and 156 in Kupwara between 21-27 June with 886 recoveries. Figures also reveal that the northern belt witnessed the death of 6 COVID-19 positive patients of which three deaths were reported in Kupwara, two in Baramulla, and only one Bandipora district between 21-27 June. In much relief for the residents with the intensity of the 2nd COVID wave coming down the districts in north Kashmir successfully registered total recoveries of 886 positive patients in the last week. Figures reveal that the Baramulla district reported a total of 145 positive cases while 380 positive patients recovered from the virus between 21-27 June. It revealed that the Kupwara district registered a total of 156 positive cases while 345 positive patients recovered from the COVID-19 virus. In the least affected district Bandipora the figures reveal that it logged a total of 99 COVID positive cases while a total of 161 patients recovered from the virus successfully. The figures also reveal that the northern belt has a total of 831 active positive cases of which 299 are in Baramulla and 351 in Kupwara and only 181 active cases in Bandipora as of Sunday. Notably, between June, the northern belt had reported a total of 787 cases of which the highest figure was registered in Baramulla district followed by Kupwara while a total of 1,789 had recovered from the virus. Senior health officials told KNO that the decline in the positivity rate means the intensity of the 2nd wave which was responded to timely by the authorities with appropriate arrangements had started to come down. "People must adhere to the appropriate COVID behaviour to combat this virus and also realize that phased unlock does not mean the pandemic is over," he said.
